Quick answer: In TikTok, tap Share and choose Live Photo. If that option is missing, or you want a specific moment, tap Save video, then trim it to 1–3 seconds in AliveShot and save it as a Live Photo.
Option 1: TikTok’s built-in Live Photo button
- Open the TikTok. Open the video in the TikTok app on your iPhone.
- Tap Share. Tap the Share arrow on the right side of the video.
- Choose Live Photo. Swipe through the bottom row of options and tap Live Photo, if it’s offered for that video.
- Find it in Photos. The Live Photo is saved to your Photos library.
It’s the quickest route, but you don’t get to choose which part of the video is used, there’s no sound, and it isn’t available on every video.
Option 2: Save the video and trim the moment
- Save the video. In TikTok, tap Share, then Save video. This only appears if the creator allows downloads.
- Open AliveShot. Pick the saved TikTok from your library.
- Trim the moment. Choose the 1–3 seconds you want and a cover frame. Crop out the watermark if you like.
- Save and set. Save it as a Live Photo, then set it as your lock screen from Photos.
This gives you control: pick the exact second, choose a clean cover frame, keep or drop the sound, and fill the lock screen. You can also try it free in the browser with the video to Live Photo tool, then finish in the app.
Which one should you use?
| TikTok’s button | Save + trim | |
|---|---|---|
| Choose the moment | No | Yes |
| Choose the cover frame | No | Yes |
| Sound | No | Optional |
| Works when downloads are off | No | No |
| Best for wallpaper | Sometimes | Yes |
A note on other people’s videos
TikTok videos belong to their creators. Using one as your own lock screen is personal use; reposting a converted clip is not. Respect creators who turn off downloads.
Frequently asked questions
Why don’t I see the Live Photo option in TikTok?
TikTok doesn’t show it for every video. Creators can turn off downloads, and the option is only offered on iPhone. If it’s missing but Save video is available, save the video and convert it with AliveShot or the free tool.
Does a TikTok Live Photo keep the sound?
Live Photos made with TikTok’s own option are saved without sound. When you convert a saved TikTok video yourself, you can keep the audio.
Can I remove the TikTok watermark?
Saved TikTok videos include a watermark that moves around. Trimming a short section and cropping to fill the screen often leaves it out, but only use other people’s videos for your own personal wallpaper.
Why is my TikTok Live Photo not moving on the lock screen?
TikTok’s option uses a longer stretch of the video, and long Live Photos often show “Motion not available” as wallpaper. Trim to 1–3 seconds and try again. More fixes in the wallpaper guide.
