Frequently asked questions

What does AliveShot do?

AliveShot is an iPhone app that turns a short piece of any video, GIF, TikTok or Instagram clip into a Live Photo. You trim the part you want, pick a cover frame, and it saves to your Photos library as a Live Photo you can set as your lock screen wallpaper.

Is there a free way to try it?

Yes. The free web tool lets you trim a clip and choose a cover frame right in your browser, without uploading anything. Saving the result as a Live Photo still needs an app, because iOS only lets apps add Live Photos to Photos.

Can I use clips from TikTok and Instagram?

Yes, as long as the clip is saved to your iPhone. See the TikTok and Instagram guides. Only use content you have the right to use.

Will the Live Photo move on my lock screen?

On iOS 17 and later, Live Photo wallpapers animate when you wake your iPhone. iOS 16 didn’t support moving Live Photo wallpapers. If you see “Motion not available”, try a shorter clip and turn off Low Power Mode — the wallpaper guide covers the details.

Why can’t a website save a Live Photo for me?

A Live Photo is a still image and a short video linked together. Safari can download files, but only an app can save that linked pair into the Photos library as one Live Photo. That’s why the web tool hands off to the app for the last step.
